Text: Mathematical Modeller Login to Save this vacancy Salary Details: 37890 to 41,438 Location: Harpenden Work Area: Science Closing Date: 08 Aug 2018 Overview Of Role We have an interesting opportunity for a post-doctoral research position, Mathematical Modeller, at Rothamsted Research, the largest agricultural research centre in the UK that provides cutting-edge science and innovation for 175 years. The jobholder will join the Sustainable Agricultural Systems Department and be part of an international team aiming to deliver socially and economically sustainable agricultural systems in Colombia that return net benefits in terms of environmental and biodiversity impacts. In partnership with local scientific expertise, farmers and support organisations (including Solidaridad - the organisation behind Fairtrade). The postholder will work with a wealth of historical and new data to find solutions that improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers, design climate-smart production systems, and devise ways of enhancing biodiversity and wider environmental impacts. The post will work in partnership with a UK SME, Agricompas, to ensure an ongoing impact of the work after the project and will be expected to travel and spend short periods of time in Colombia.
