Position: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Actuarial Science

Duties: Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects; Collaborate with colleagues in the School on course development, delivery and assessment, taking on appropriate management and administrative responsibilities; Deliver high quality undergraduate and postgraduate level teaching in Actuarial Science and related subjects in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science and provide ancillary teaching to other departments within the University; Develop and/or contribute to other modules/programmes appropriate to his/her background and experience
Requirements: Associate member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or hold a doctorate in a relevant discipline (e.g., Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance or Economics) or its equivalent. Candidates who do not hold a relevant doctorate or equivalent will not be considered for a T&R post. A strong research record in actuarial science, evidenced by internationally excellent publications in leading journals. Skills and experience of particular relevance to the development of Actuarial Science teaching
   
Text: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Actuarial Science Ref STM0926 Location Canterbury Job Type Academic Contract Type Open Ended Salary Type Per Annum Salary (£) 33518 - 56950 STM0926, SMSAS, Closing date: 19 Aug 2018 Grade 7/8/9 £33,518- £56,950 per annum (a market related supplement will also be payable to a qualified actuary) The School wishes to recruit a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Actuarial Science, Teaching and Research (T&R) focused or, for a fully-qualified actuary who does not meet the T&R requirements, a lectureship is available which is Teaching and Scholarship (T&S) focused. For a T&R post, you will be expected to contribute to teaching, research and innovation activities within the School, and to the life of the School in general. For a T&S post, you will be expected to make a significant contribution to teaching, scholarship and enterprise activities within the School, and to the life of the School in general. Skills and experience of particular relevance to the development of Actuarial Science teaching The School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science , with slight changes in name, has existed from the earliest days of the University of Kent and is part of the Faculty of Sciences within the University. It offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science and Finance. Currently there are over 1,000 students pursuing these programmes. SMSAS has recently received an Athena SWAN Silver award, in recognition of our commitment to advancing the representation of women in mathematics, and is the first department at Kent and one of just nine university mathematics departments in the UK to receive the Athena SWAN Silver Award.
