Text: Position Information Job Title Visiting Assistant Professor, Mathematics Rank Assistant Professor Tenure Information Non-Tenure Track Summary The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at John Carroll University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Mathematics for the 2018-2019 academic year, beginning in August 2018. This is a non-renewable position. John Carroll University is a private, coeducational, Jesuit Catholic university founded in 1886 and dedicated to developing women and men with the knowledge and character to lead and to serve. The University is located in University Heights, Ohio, an attractive residential suburb 10 miles east of downtown Cleveland. The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Data Science, as well as a number of courses for students in majors such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, and Business. Primary teaching duties of the successful candidate will include introductory Calculus and/or Statistics courses Required Qualifications A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field is required by the time of appointment, and some teaching experience is desired. Candidates with an M.S. in Mathematics or Statistics will be considered for the position, at the rank of Instructor. Successful candidates will have a commitment to undergraduate education in a liberal arts environment and be familiar with current pedagogical practices in Mathematics and/or Statistics. Preferred Qualifications Normal Working Hours and Conditions Varies. Four courses (12 credit hours total) each semester on campus (no online courses), with a minimum of 6 scheduled hours of office hours each week.
