Requirements: The individual should have a good first degree (2: 1 UK equivalent or above), together with a doctorate in electrical/mechanical engineering or computer science or robotics. (S)he needs to demonstrable skills in the creation/design and interfacing of (soft) robotic systems, data acquisition systems, and programming languages. (S)he needs to have the ability to work as a member of a team, demonstrable commitment to the development of innovative research methods, data analysis and presentation. The post-holder needs to be able to write complex reports and papers accurately and clearly

The successful applicant will lead the development of a driver seat made of soft robotic structures to allow intuitive human-machine interaction in future autonomous vehicles. Further activities will include the integration of the seat into a driving simulator, involvement in outreach programmes, impact activities and academic publications. This appointment is for 12 months in the first instance (with a possible extension of up to 12 months) with an immediate start.
