This position frequently interacts with clients, vendors, and University Systems staff to coordinate the implementation, upgrade and support for managed desktop services. Requirements: Three years of experience with managing and providing tier 2/3 support of enterprise desktop applications, such as Microsoft Exchange, Skype, and/or SharePoint. Three years of experience with managing and providing tier 2/3 support enterprise security services, such as Disk Encryption, Antivirus and Endpoint Protection, Intrusion Detection/Prevention and Firewalls, Data Loss Prevention, Desktop Management (Active Directory, Systems Centre Configuration Manager, Windows Software Update Service, etc.). Reporting to the Manager, Client Technologies, within Academic & Administrative Services, the Senior Technical & Information Security Analyst: Is a trusted subject matter expert, who provides leadership and guidance at various levels, works with many units within the University, and collaborates with senior technical staff across campus. Implements and supports endpoint (desktop and laptop) configurations, security, and management services for the university’s managed desktop computing environment. This position frequently interacts with clients, vendors, and University Systems staff to coordinate the implementation, upgrade and support for managed desktop services. Proposes, develops, and delivers innovative projects to enhance the service offerings of University Systems in support of enterprise applications, managed devices (mobile, laptops, desktops), and information security. Acts as a supplemental resource to the UVic Information Security Office for incident response as well as for security threat and risk assessments. This position is a back-up for the Senior Technical Analyst - Information Security, is a resource on security-related projects, and, promotes good information security practice to the University community. Our normal business hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, while client-facing service entities may be open from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM; system maintenance may be performed off-hours and major issues are responded to on a 24/7 basis. In the case of a large-scale response to an information system security incident, in which the information security and/or privacy of the university community is at risk, this position may be required to work for long durations. Job Requirements An equivalent combination of education, training and experience would be considered. Experience requirements include: Three years of experience with managing and providing tier 2/3 support of enterprise desktop applications, such as Microsoft Exchange, Skype, and/or SharePoint. Three years of experience with managing and providing tier 2/3 support enterprise security services, such as Disk Encryption, Antivirus and Endpoint Protection, Intrusion Detection/Prevention and Firewalls, Data Loss Prevention, Desktop Management (Active Directory, Systems Centre Configuration Manager, Windows Software Update Service, etc.). Experience in securing remote-access and managing mobile computing environments. Experience evaluating technology infrastructure and new technologies in order to implement solutions that satisfy business needs. Experience providing security operations support. Experience coordinating resolution of technical problems while managing multiple tasks and priorities. Competencies include: Ability to be enthusiastic and resourceful with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) in order to interact effectively with colleagues, staff and vendors in a client-oriented environment. Ability to successfully contribute to complex projects: developing project work plans; monitoring and directing the activities of a project team. Willingness and ability to acquire new computing and other related skills independently. Ability to successfully lead, mentor and coach technical staff. Ability to problem solve effectively. Ability to write coherent technical service documentation and documentation to assist clients understand and use the services. Ability to provide leadership to highly trained and qualified staff and consultants. Asset Industry Certifications: PMI PMP/CAPM, Microsoft MCSA/E, ISACA Risk, Audit, or Security certifications, ISC2 CISSP. Preference may be given to applicants with experience gained in a post-secondary or similarly large, complex and unionized environment.
