The Statistics and Population Studies Department is hosted in the Faculty of Natural Sciences. The department recently launched an exciting industry-directed MSc in Statistical Sciences with specialisation in Data Science in collaboration with international and national partners. This new academic position will assist in accelerating our new initiatives in Data Science and the successful candidate will play a key role in training the Data Scientists of the future. The successful candidate will have the following key responsibility areas : Teaching and Learning - Contribute to the continuous development and renewal of existing academic programmes; - Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules; - Supervise postgraduate students; Research - Contribute to departmental research output; Leadership and Management - Actively contribute to departmental management activities; Community Engagement - Community/Industry engagement. Minimum Requirements - PhD in Statistics or Mathematical Statistics or Data Science; - Proven expertise in applying complex statistical and data science techniques including an advanced knowledge of statistical packages such as SAS and R; - Qualified to teach undergraduate and postgraduate statistics modules; - A proven research track record including a steady output of research publications which could include industry/business research reports containing advanced statistical analytics; - National/international collaborations/networks; - Experience in supervising research in the field of statistics or data science in industry or academia.
