Requirements: A PhD degree in Industrial Dynamics, Science and Technology Studies (STS), or similar. Experience in quantitative and qualitative research, including experience in case studies. Scientific production within co-creation and user involvement in systemic innovation. Experience in collaboration with Danish and European stakeholders in the domain of renewable energy and/or robotics. Apply online DTU Management Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark invites applications for two positions as researcher in Industrial dynamics and systemic change. The position will be affiliated to the Industrial Dynamics and Strategy (IDS) research group within the department’s Technology and Innovation Management division. The researchers are expected to work in a research team building on the adjunct disciplines of Industrial dynamics, Institutional theory, Evolutionary economics, Science and Technology Studies (STS) and Technology Foresight. The research field revolves around system innovation for grand societal challenges. A key aspect is to understand mechanisms that lead to systemic changes of technological, industrial and societal systems. The research focusses on understanding change and change processes of industrial sectors and wider innovation systems with private and public actors. Empirically, the group has a stronghold in the sectors of energy and cleantech. The users of the research are typically industrial sectors and their associations, sectoral and regional authorities but also individual national and international organizations. The position as researcher is a permanent entry-level position. Responsibilities and tasks Over the first three years, the two new researchers are expected to allocate 2/3 of their time at research in a new EU funded project ‘Scaling up Co-creation: Avenues and Limits for Integrating Society in Science and Innovation’. The project will investigate the implementation, uptake and outcomes of three co-creation instruments (public procurement of innovation, co-creation facilities and living labs) in two technical domains (robotics and urban energy) across 10 countries. Other tasks and responsibilities related to the positions include: Publication of research results in leading international journals. Research-based teaching up to 20% of the time. The teaching includes contributions to the 3-year programmes leading to a B.Sc. in Strategic Analysis and Systems Design and a B.Sc. in Design & Innovation. Attracting external research funding in cooperation with industry, public organisations and DTU’s international partner universities. Further develop the department’s collaboration with other DTU departments; e.g. DTU Wind Energy. Qualifications Candidates must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). Furthermore, the ideal candidates have: A PhD degree in Industrial Dynamics, Science and Technology Studies (STS), or similar. Experience in quantitative and qualitative research, including experience in case studies. Scientific production within co-creation and user involvement in systemic innovation. Experience in collaboration with Danish and European stakeholders in the domain of renewable energy and/or robotics. An established European and international academic network; in particular at technical universities. Since the positions are permanent, we expect candidates to speak Danish or learn Danish within a short time frame. For international candidates, DTU offers Danish language courses for the purpose of being able to learn to speak Danish within the first 2-3 years.
