They will also have extensive experience of molecular modelling and simulation of proteins, involving large scale high performance computing on Tier 1 and Tier 0 facilities
   
Text: Research Associate in Free Energy Prediction from Ensemble Based Calculations, - Ref:1726166 Click here to go back to search results Apply Now UCL Department / Division Chemistry Location of position London Grade 7 Hours Full Time Salary (inclusive of London allowance) ?34,635 to ?41,864 per annum Duties and Responsibilities Applications are invited for a Research Associate to work with Professor Peter Coveney in the Department of Chemistry at University College London. The successful candidate will join a very active inter-disciplinary group in the Centre for Computational Science, and will work on providing guiding theoretical principles and computational methods for the design of novel materials based on their atomic composition and structure. The postholder will develop and optimise verified and validated molecular dynamics simulation for drug discovery and personalised medicine using established molecular dynamics codes such as OpenMM and GROMACS. The approach must make use of modern techniques for uncertainty quantification. The codes will be optimised for existing and future emerging architectures along the path to the exascale. The post is funded by the European Commission and is available for a period of 12 months initially, and the appointment will start as soon as possible. Key Requirements The successful candidate will have a PhD degree (or near to being awarded a PhD) in an area of Chemistry, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computational Biology or related areas, with a significant component of bio-molecular modelling and simulation and proven programming expertise. They will also have extensive experience of molecular modelling and simulation of proteins, involving large scale high performance computing on Tier 1 and Tier 0 facilities. Please note, appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (salary ?30,316 to ?31,967 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
