Duties: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Florida State University (FSU) and Florida A&M University (FAMU)College of Engineering is pleased to invite applications for an open-rank tenured or tenure-track faculty position in the area of Cyber Physical Systems Security. We seek candidates capable of establishing a leading research and educational program, and our primary interest is in the application of cyber physical systems security to power and energy systems, where there is a strong connection with the Center for Advanced Power Systems (CAPS) of Florida State University. However there are also research interests within the College in transportation, nanomanufacturing and robotics in which Cyber Physical Systems Security may be considered. Besides developing a leading sponsored research program, the candidate will teach classes at the undergraduate and graduate level within the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. The FSU-FAMU College of Engineering is unique in combining two outstanding universities with overlapping but distinct missions - one of the nation’s ~100 Highest Research Activity Universities with the nation’s top Historically Black College/University . As such we provide an outstanding research and entrepreneurship based education to one of the most diverse student populations in the US. The ECE Department presently has 24 faculty members, ABET accredited B.S. programs in electrical engineering and computer engineering with 600 undergraduate students, and M.S. and Ph.D. programs in electrical engineering with over 100 graduate students. The ECE department has strong research ties with Center for Advanced Power Systems (CAPS), and additional opportunities for collaboration with several FSU laboratories/centers including the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, the High-Performance Materials Institute (HPMI) and others, as listed in our annual report. CAPS was established in 2000 by FSU as part of the Office of Naval Research sponsored Electric Ship Research and Development Consortium. The Center focuses on advanced power technologies; vehicle power and propulsion; traditional and future power electronics-based utility systems; distributed control; and power system analysis, all with a particular emphasis on system level modeling and simulation utilizing hardware in the loop and real-time digital simulators; https://www.eng.famu.fsu.edu/ece/employment/cyber-physical-systems-security.html
Requirements: We seek an outstanding scholar who has demonstrated leadership in engineering research; success in educating postgraduate and undergraduate students; ability to secure available research funding; and aptitude in working collaboratively across disciplinary boundaries. The position level and tenure will depend on experience - while we prefer an experienced candidate, a junior candidate with exceptional promise could be appointed as a tenure-track assistant professor
