Position: Data Analyst

Duties: This is an exciting opportunity for a data analyst to contribute as we develop our use of data beyond reporting towards predictive modelling, enhancing our understanding of how to improve the enquirer, applicant and student journey; As a team player, you will live the External Relations values of collaboration, innovation, integrity, professionalism, respectfulness and supportiveness. You will build strong relationships with colleagues across the institution, building your understanding of the data and systems landscape, developing our analysis and reporting work, and delivering outputs to colleagues; Working with colleagues in Market Insight, Educational Enterprise, Admissions, Student Recruitment and Marketing, Channel Management and elsewhere, you will play a key role in ensuring our work continues to be sector-leading. Having a passion for turning data into insight, you will take forward the extensive data reporting landscape on which we rely, refining or redefining it as required; You will identify where data is sufficient to perform useful predictive modelling relevant to the enquirer, applicant and student journeys, or how data and/or systems need to be improved to make this possible; You will either be adept with our current systems or able to demonstrate your ability to rapidly become so (Business Objects, Tableau, MS Office, SPSS, Snap Survey). Similarly, you will either already be familiar with the landscape of sector data available through UCAS and HESA, or able to demonstrate your ability to rapidly become so
Requirements: A degree in maths, statistics, MORSE, Information Systems or similar; and/or significant experience demonstrating equivalent ability; Strong understanding of applied statistics; Strong understanding of the principles of databases and data analytics; Strong general IT skills; Excellent organisational and time-management skills with real attention to deadlines and detail; Ability to prioritise and simplify stakeholder requirements; Ability to work effectively under pressure and deliver to targets; An analytical mind set with a creative, innovative approach to problem solving and the energy to drive change; The resilience to deal with and work around the limitations of legacy systems; The ability to develop close working relationships and build the trust of colleagues across the University; A high standard of written and oral communication; Comfortable working alone or in a small team, sometimes with little supervision; Ideally, a passion for learning and an understanding of Higher Education
