Duties: Analysis Analyzes specifications of non-experience rated and experience rated cases, particularly large and/or complex cases, using underwriting guidelines to determine eligibility and pricing Regularly evaluates non-standard exceptions and makes judgment calls whether or not to allow exceptions Conducts detailed review of competitor contracts and experience and determines how it applies to Lincoln’s offerings. Reviews census and occupational data as well as demographic trends to determine appropriate pricing levels Prepares proposals by reviewing quote requests from brokers and marketing representatives, analyzes group statistical data, actuarial reports and market information to determine plan designs and pricing levels. Maintains profitability on an assigned block of active cases through regular monitoring and analysis Reviews sold policies, amendments and renewals to ensure appropriate pricing and coverage Negotiation Negotiates benefits and pricing with brokers and internal sales representatives based on our product offerings, underwriting guidelines and pricing strategies Contributes to sales team in meeting key growth goals by answering questions and requests, explaining pricing rationale, and educating them on underwriting products, policies and procedures Communicates frequently by telephone and written correspondence with internal and external customers to clarify and resolve underwriting questions Travels occasionally to customers'and Field offices to make presentations, meet customer needs, and represent the company at industry meetings

The Role As an Underwriting Consultant you be responsible for analyzing risk, determining appropriate plan designs, negotiating pricing levels and finding alternative solutions while balancing the division’s sales and retention goals. You will work closely with senior management on complex accounts and be expected to make effective decisions and recommendations.
