Indefinite contract; This post aims to strengthen the biomechanical skills available within the Department of Biomedical Engineering, in particular for applications that involve the development, application and translation of innovative bioengineering approaches. The measurement and modelling of cardiovascular physiology has applications in perfusion, tissue mechanics, electrical activation and whole organ fluid mechanics and the Department has projects that aim to use all these approaches/applications. The skills brought in by this position will be utilised across these projects. There are also biomechanical projects in the domains of neuro-degenerative diseases (MS, Alzheimer’s) and breast cancer. In that context it is desirable – but not mandatory - that the candidate has expertise in BOTH domains, i.e. biomechanics (waves, rheology, FEM) and imaging (MRI, ultrasound). However, a very strong background in the physics of waves can certainly counterbalance missing expertise in imaging and vice versa
