Education Required Bachelor's Degree Concentration / Degree Type Communications, public relations, marketing, or a related degree. Substitution for Education Requirement Experience may not be substituted for the education requirement. Education Preferred Bachelor’s degree preferred in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field Experience Required 4 years Type of Experience Experience in communications, managing social media accounts, and marketing. Experience Preferred - Extensive experience in managing social media and digital communications platforms. - Experience with maintaining websites using a content management system. - Experience in external communications in an academic environment. - Experience using Google Analytics and other web tools such as Hootsuite. License/Certification Required License/Certification Preferred Skills Required - Excellent writing skills and the ability to concisely and effectively communicate, both verbally and in written form, with an excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling and punctuation. - Proven knowledge of the web production process and working knowledge of HTML . - Ability to write and execute social media plans for a variety of departments concurrently. - Extensive knowledge of social media and social media optimization. - Ability to use Adobe Photoshop to manipulate images. - Ability to complete multiple concurrent work assignments, set priorities and problem solve while encountering interruptions in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining composure and concentration. - Must be able to use work-related computer applications including spreadsheets, word processing, publication applications, and website content management. - Must be service oriented with a high attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills. - Must have a mature attitude and be capable of making good decisions. - Must be able to set goals and pursue them with minimal supervision. - Must have the ability to work effectively and engagingly with students, faculty and alumni. - Must have the ability to work well in teams and collaborate with diverse constituents. - Must be able to manage tasks with minimal supervision. - Willing to work outside of standard office hours, including evenings and weekends, if needed. Must be able to lift 10 lbs (plus). Working Conditions The Office of Engineering Communications is fast-paced with non-stop demands on the team’s time. The atmosphere, however, is collegial and professional. The person in this position will spend much of his or her time at a computer. Works with communications team to create informative, attractive newsletters for each department. Compiles content for digital annual reports for these departments: chemical and biomolecular engineering, civil and environmental, materials science and nanoengineering, and mechanical engineering.
