Position: Lab Automation Engineer

Duties: We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who will be responsible for the operation of automation/robotics within the facility. Responsibilities include transferring experimental protocols into robotic workflows (scripting, programming, validating and instrument reconfiguration), instrument maintenance, and user training. He/she will be supporting the users during the use of the established protocols and for troubleshooting when necessary. This position is permanent, located in Basel and can start immediately
Requirements: The candidate should have an engineering or science background and experience in the field of laboratory automation, preferably with liquid and cell handling. The position requires hands-on experience in assay/workflow development and instrument maintenance. Good programming skills for scripting and customized programming of automated systems and LIMS are essential (Hamilton Venus two, Tecan Freedom EVOware, LabView). The position demands very good problem solving skills of complex technical issues. Fluency in English is required to support scientific research and operations at the ETH
   
Text: The Laboratory Automation Facility (LAF) is a central research and service platform at the ETH's Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE) , located in Basel. We provide for our users the implementation and access to complex laboratory workflows on automated liquid handling systems such as TECAN and Hamilton. We are recruiting for our team an Lab Automation Engineer at the ETH Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (Basel) We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who will be responsible for the operation of automation/robotics within the facility. Responsibilities include transferring experimental protocols into robotic workflows (scripting, programming, validating and instrument reconfiguration), instrument maintenance, and user training.
