The position will begin August 2018. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position will have the possibility of renewal, pending availability of funding, department need, and acceptable annual review. Candidates will be evaluated on: Academic qualifications Documented potential for excellence in teaching Evidence of strong oral, writing, and interpersonal skills Desire and ability to support Truman’s liberal arts mission both within and outside the department Ability to consistently implement and enforce departmental rules and policies Previous experience with online instruction or computer-assisted instruction Familiarity with the Hawkes Learning System Previous experience managing large classes Previous experience creating schedules and supervising student workers Previous experience tactfully handling student grievances Previous experience managing concurrent enrollment courses Program: The Department of Mathematics is part of the School of Science and Mathematics at Truman State University. The department has 16 faculty members and over 200 students in the undergraduate major and three minors, graduating approximately 30 mathematics majors yearly. The department also provides classes to support Truman’s Liberal Studies Program (LSP) as well as majors in a variety of disciplines including education, business, and the sciences. Opportunities for faculty members to pursue interdisciplinary teaching and research exist within the School and as part of the LSP.
