Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or other related discipline and/or a graduate of a recognized technical institute in related industry fields. Professional Architect, Engineer and/or Project Manager designations desirable. Ten to twelve years of current relevant experience in project management, construction contract law, contractor and consultant procurement practices and policies, construction management, as well as planning and building code regulations
   
Text: Posting Number: 17M230 Position Title: Director, Project Services Department: Facilities & Campus Development: Project Services Campus/Location: Burnaby campus Employee Group: Management Job Status: Regular Anticipated Start Date: 10-02-2017 Anticipated End Date: Job Summary/Basic Function: BCIT is seeking a regular, full-time, Director, Project Services. Project Services is one of the three major divisions in the Facilities and Campus Development portfolio. This position is seen as the leader of capital construction project delivery for the Institute, and is responsible for making decisions in extremely complex circumstances with minimal disruptions to the business of BCIT. This position represents the Institute as client and owner in key construction contractual relationships regarding risk, law, performance and regulation. This position represents the Institute with all authorities having jurisdiction, municipalities and local authorities. This position represents BCIT as the liaison to the Ministry regarding projects, capital funding and capital processes (Capital Asset Management Framework, Systems, etc.). DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Responsible for the design development and construction of capital projects of varying complexity and size. This includes directing assigned staff, consultants and contractors in terms of project budget, schedule and scope and through regular discussions with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that deliverables meet or exceed expectations. Due to the complexity and number of construction projects, the individual in this position makes independent decisions under short timelines based on board policy, provincial and national legislation, using discretion based on strong level of experience, knowledge and competency. Responsible for the strategic implementation of measures to devise an appropriate and successful organizational structure for the division through analysis of future demands, staff capacity and skillsets. Directs the staff within the Institute Project Office for the provision of space planning and renovation project services related to the functional and operational requirements of the Academic Schools, Service Groups and Partner Agencies. Responsible for the review, analysis and preparation of Institute Project Business plans for viability, budget, scope, schedule and compliance. Plans, assembles and implements the Institute's yearly capital project inventory which is scheduled according to staff capacity, operational hours, seasonal demands and multi-year budgeting to best suit the business continuity needs of the Institute. Directs the performance and development of staff. Provides direction, establishes employee development programs and coaching/mentoring practices that promotes individual and team competence, productivity, and customer focused solutions. Regular performance reviews are established and maintained. Probationary and annual performance reviews are scheduled and conducted.
