Text: GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: The MGH Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (MGH NeuroICU) and MGH Epilepsy Service are leaders in developing and applying computational, statistical, and engineering techniques in combination with clinical neurophysiology and multimodal physiologic ICU monitoring to better understand and improve pathological states of the brain in critically ill hospitalized patients. Major initiatives of the MGH Critical Care Neuromonitoring Program include efforts to create early EEG-based warning systems for patients at high risk for secondary neurologic injury such as in-hospital ischemic strokes, and efforts to improve the prediction of coma recovery after cardiac arrest We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work with our team of clinicians, computational engineers, and research coordinators. The incumbent will employ and develop computational tools for the analysis of physiologic neuromonitoring data. The incumbent must possess a strong programming background (e.g. MATLAB, C++), a foundation in signal processing, and the drive and enthusiasm to learn about clinical neuroscience by assisting in state-of-the art patient-centered research. Masters or PhD degrees will enhance competitiveness but are not required. EXPERIENCE: Required: · A strong background in signal processing · Algorithm development and programming experience including MATLAB and C++ · Preferred: Experience with electrical engineering, computational neurophysiology, or a related field · Comfort working in a hands-on environment · Additional experience with other neuroimaging or statistical packages · Experience with high-dimensional biomedical data and technology platforms SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY (if applicable): None but will work within a team of physicians, clinical research coordinators, and biomedical and electrical engineers, and computer scientists and provide training and instruction as appropriate WORKING CONDITIONS: Work will be performed in several of the MGH Intensive Care Units or in computational EEG laboratory space on the MGH campus.
