Duties: This position is responsible for research in the field of neuroscience, with advanced training in immunology, including in vitro and in vivo experiments in animal models of disease developed and studied. Assist with the coordination of tasks for students and other staff within the lab setting, including providing training on areas(s) of expertise to new individuals on proper procedures, techniques, and equipment training. Assist with running day-to-day operations within the laboratory; makes administrative decisions regarding experiments and will be responsible for learning all aspects of lab procedures and equipment
Requirements: Ph.D. in a biomedical science discipline. Two (2) years postdoctoral experience with demonstrated ability to: Prepare in vitro and in vivo cell cultures. Perform mouse handling, husbandry, and small animal surgery. Use flow cytometry to characterize mouse and human cell populations. Demonstrated peer-reviewed publications in immunology, cell biology, or neuroscience. Demonstrated ability to design, perform and analyze data from multi-parametric flow cytometric experiments. Skilled in animal handling, husbandry, and genotyping procedures. Skilled in basic molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to qPCR, Western blot, and ELISA

This position is responsible for research in the field of neuroscience, with advanced training in immunology, including in vitro and in vivo experiments in animal models of disease developed and studied. In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will: Assist with the coordination of tasks for students and other staff within the lab setting, including providing training on areas(s) of expertise to new individuals on proper procedures, techniques, and equipment training. Assist with running day-to-day operations within the laboratory; makes administrative decisions regarding experiments and will be responsible for learning all aspects of lab procedures and equipment. Perform or assist with laboratory's research program, participate in lab meetings, and prepare reports for laboratory meetings, grant progress reports, and manuscripts. Develop/monitor/conduct experiments; make observations; and collect, record and analyze data, using theoretical background and practice skills to interpret data. Write detailed research papers, reports, and articles for journals in order to contribute to and be listed as first author or co-author on publications in peer-reviewed research journals. Qualifications Ph.D. in a biomedical science discipline Two (2) years postdoctoral experience with demonstrated ability to: Prepare in vitro and in vivo cell cultures Perform mouse handling, husbandry, and small animal surgery Use flow cytometry to characterize mouse and human cell populations Demonstrated peer-reviewed publications in immunology, cell biology, or neuroscience Perform manual or computer-assisted data analysis with standard Microsoft office and statistical software packages Demonstrated ability to design, perform and analyze data from multi-parametric flow cytometric experiments Skilled in animal handling, husbandry, and genotyping procedures Skilled in basic molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to qPCR, Western blot, and ELISA Demonstrated experience in cell and tissue culture, i.e. immortalized cell lines and primary culture Skilled in interpreting experimental results Knowledge of laboratory environment Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Demonstrated ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form Develop, manage, and maintain accurate lab notebooks and records Requirements Background check About WVU At West Virginia University, we pride ourselves on a tireless endeavor for achievement.
