Duties: Position provides direction and insight for building effective data infrastructure for cybersecurity research and training. This role will require partnering with other data scientists, cyber engineers, and developers to collect, normalize, and analyze necessary data; build tools for cybersecurity related data-analysis; and analyze large amounts of data to derive insights and value from them. The Cyber Data Scientist works with the applied research and training groups to enhance the state-of-the-art applications to applied data science and analytics to the cybersecurity domain
Requirements: Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, data sciences or engineering. Minimum of three (3) years programming experience in Python. Experience with Python data science toolkits such as NumPy, SciKit-Learn, Pandas, and Conda. Experience with data visualization tools such as D3.js. Working knowledge of additional programming languages such as C, Java, and Assembly. Demonstrated knowledge of machine learning and distributed systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

The Cyber Data Scientist works with the applied research and training groups to enhance the state-of-the-art applications to applied data science and analytics to the cybersecurity domain. Work Schedule Additional Duties Identifies significant trends within assigned subject-matter area and proposes new or revised analytical projects that apply data science techniques to the cybersecurity domain. Develops and/or recommends complex analytical approaches to cybersecurity problems and situations for which data are incomplete, controversial, or for which no precedent exists. Researches, reviews, edits, plans, prepares, integrates and publishes complex all-source cybersecurity studies, plans, and/or products. Identifies relationships, trends/patterns in, or draws conclusions from assembled information using analytical principles, methodology, and statistical analyses. Consults with other data scientists and cybersecurity engineers to identify gaps and develops new collection methods. Provides multi-source data analysis and fusion analysis integrating existing open- source products and databases to provide an enhanced level of cybersecurity. Preferred Qualifications PhD in computer science or engineering or in progress of obtaining degree. Experience managing vendor/partner relationships within military, industry, or academia domains. Experience with installation, configuration, or operation of cybersecurity tools to include Wireshark, Nessus, and Kali suite. Experience working in a security operations team performing incident handling, red team exercises, and/or blue team exercises. Published peer-reviewed research in area of expertise.
