Position: Research Associate - Bioinformaticist

Duties: Under the direction of the department head, this position will implement and test bioinformatics tools for genomics data analysis; oversee and coordinate bioinformatics projects and activities; instruct and help users with genomics data analysis; advise faculty, train and supervise students regarding project development, data analysis and data interpretation; train students in bioinformatics methods; devise and apply strategies and plans to keep the bioinformatics program up to date; participate in research in genomics and bioinformatics in collaboration with faculty including publication and grant writing; remain up-to-date with methodologies and approaches for genomics data analysis and collection
Requirements: Master’s degree in molecular genetics or an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience in genomics and high-throughput sequence data analysis, familiarity with high-throughput sequencing and genotyping methodologies, and basic statistical methods for data analysis; knowledge of computational tools for sequence databases searches, genome annotations, and large/high throughput sequence data analysis
