At Blue Shield of California, our Actuarial Services team provides the Company with pricing support, calculating reserves information, risk assessment/analyses, data reporting, financial forecasting/projections, creating/preparing filings and/or performing financial and risk analyses in changes to provider contracts. The purpose of the work is to directly assist Blue Shield of California in meeting its goals of providing low-cost health care and meeting earnings objectives . The team works closely with our Actuarial, Underwriting, Marketing and Sales business partners. We are currently seeking an Actuarial Analyst who possesses both an in-depth knowledge and hands on experience of ASO pricing. This position is a high-functioning individual contributor role which operates at a senior level and will report directly to the Actuarial Manager, Finance. In this role, the Actuarial Analyst responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Conducting analysis, pricing and risk assessments to estimate and assess financial outcomes. Creating, maintaining and producing various time-sensitive standard analytic reports for both internal and /or external use. Devising and implementing evaluation and financial reporting standards. Directing, preparing, performing and analyzing research and audits. Developing, calculating and verifying policy values. Analyzing changes in provider reimbursement terms and recommending more cost efficient alternatives. Comprehensive and accurate peer review of other analysts’ work product. Crafting, extending and maintaining profit studies, forfeiture values and GAAP, reserve programs, rate files and procedures. Calculating profit studies, net premiums reserves and non-forfeiture values, and assists in preparing the actuarial portion of financial reports and tax returns. Coordinating, preparing and performing actuarial analyses to assist in the development of complex actuarial formulations leading to the recommendation of pricing strategies and loss reserving. Consulting and providing clarification on actuarial models and risk issues. Guardianship of documentation of actuarial analyses May also be requested to provide assistance in preparing the actuarial portion of finance reports and tax returns, as well as composing responses to insurance regulators.
