Classes start June 12, 2017 and continue through July 14, 2017. Class schedules will vary. Will also be required to attend mandatory staff trainings at dates and times to be determined, and other preparatory meetings prior to June 12, in addition to special program events and post-program evaluation. Basic Function Additional Basic Functions - if applicable Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities Part-time teaching positions in Mathematics for Summer. Classes will be based upon academic content standards and benchmarks, with curriculum based on the online ALEKS system. Instructors will be expected to facilitate structure in the math lab, monitor student progress, and assist in the learning process. Topics range from Pre-algebra through pre-calculus to ensure students are ready for college. Mandatory staff dates include teacher training, summer staff orientation and closing program. Additional Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities - if applicable Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education or equivalent required by June 1. A minimum of one (1) year teaching experience. A student-centered philosophy of learning and the ability to interact effectively with other instructors, Upward Bound programs staff members, students and parents required. Innovativeness; understanding of limited income, first generation college bound students; knowledge of methods for motivating students; experience in working with culturally diverse populations required. Preferred: Teaching certification; experience with first-year students; experience with KSU freshman mathematics sequence curriculum, knowledge of basic computer skills, and of TRiO programs.
