A non-tenure track appointment is available on August 1, 2017, at the rank of Lecturer in the Division of Science at IUPUC . The position is a ten-month teaching assignment with responsibility for teaching four sections each semester and engaging in service activities at the campus. IUPUC is a growing institution with high potential. The Columbus Learning Center incorporates resources from IUPUC , Ivy Tech Community College, and Purdue Polytechnic Institute to provide a focal point for community learning. This partnership is the result of a community initiative to expand postsecondary degree and professional development opportunities for the local workforce, resulting in a seamless continuation of educational opportunities for area residents. IUPUC is located in Columbus, Indiana, and has a staff of 63 full-time faculty with excellent credentials and enrolls between 1,500 and 1,800 students annually. Columbus is located one hour south of Indianapolis, 1¼ hours from Louisville, and 1½ hours from Cincinnati. Columbus is a unique midwestern community with a population of 46,000 known for its world class architecture. Basic Qualifications REQUIREMENTS : The division seeks highly qualified candidates who have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in mathematics, applied mathematics or statistics. Successful candidates should have a record of high quality teaching in introductory mathematics courses. The candidate needs to be able to teach any course in the calculus sequence, differential equations, finite mathematics, and college algebra. In addition, the candidate needs to have the ability and interest to work with a diverse student population. Candidates should have the desire to improve conditions in and access to higher education for underrepresented students. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must. Successful teaching at the university level is very important. Additional Qualifications PREFERENCES : Minimum of two years of experience in teaching traditional and non-traditional undergraduate students and demonstrated capacity to collaborate with faculty across disciplines. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of teaching statistics. Preference will also be given to applicants who have a record of teaching and serving under-represented populations and first generation college students and a demonstrated commitment to student and community engagement.
