Knowledge of computer software applications for statistical analysis, database creation and management, reporting and presentation of research results and student information including: SPSS, SAS, Access, SQL

DESCRIPTION Under the direction of the Director of Academic Affairs, the Graduate Division Institutional Research Analyst performs a variety of institutional research functions serving the Dean and all the units in the Graduate Division. Functions include, but are not limited to: creating reports summarizing and interpreting analytical studies and research projects related to campus graduate education; preparing data to be used by external committees in graduate program reviews; composition, preparation and production of manuscripts, reports, presentations and correspondences, and assistance thereof, to both internal and external individuals; analytical support related to research survey efforts; maintaining and updating the Graduate Division’s educational website; and developing and enhancing data dissemination and management methods. QUALIFICATIONS Expert in compiling and reporting accurate data, with analytical experience to recognize potential impacts, identify and recommend creative and alternative solutions, interpret and evaluate results. Knowledge of research design and methods. Familiarity with planning, developing and carrying out survey research, including the design and development of survey instruments. Strong oral and written communication abilities. Must be able to, in a clear and effective manner, verbally express and explain data and findings, both on the telephone and in person, to individuals and groups. Ability to prepare, compose and edit reports, publications and technical documents. Ability to write preliminary analyses of special studies/projects. Knowledge of computer software applications for statistical analysis, database creation and management, reporting and presentation of research results and student information including: SPSS, SAS, Access, SQL. Independent decision-making skills with demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment to investigate issues, solve problems and synthesize implications applicable to graduate education. Experience in working as a team member to accomplish unit, department and campus goals. Ability to work independently on complex projects and tasks, seeing them through to completion, organizing/prioritizing workload to meet required deadlines. Preferred: Experience working in an educational environment with knowledge of graduate education issues, programs and policies. SPECIAL CONDITIONS A background check is required.
