General Profile : The Virtual SDM is responsible for overseeing the Virtual Training Team and ensuring the delivery of our NYLIC University Program at New York Life (NYL). The Virtual SDM is centrally located in the NYL Westchester NY home office as part of a 9 person team supporting the Field and General Office SDMs via remote virtual training solutions covering core base knowledge and skills required for Agent success. Responsibilities include: • Oversees specific aspects of the Field Development Virtual Training program for our 12,000 agents and Field Agents • Running Virtual Classroom webinars and other remote training solutions • Supervises the Virtual Training team • People and Talent management • Research and develop the content and delivery methods for online training to different segments of NYL Agents • Facilitates a wide array of training programs that could include: Fundamental, Basic and Intermediate development training programs; Specialized Programs; Technology training; Product training • Deliver and implement programs using Adobe Connect and other web technologies. • Build and implement the training standards, systems and best practices for content creation, curation, distribution, archiving and ongoing maintenance. • Partner with SDMs, ZTOs (Zone Training Officers) internal business stakeholders and Agency teams to define and build new content based on business plans and established key business goals. • Develop and continually manage an integrated training calendar for key initiatives along within Agency Management. • Conduct regular gap analysis of existing content, identifying sections that need a greater depth of material and removing out-dated material. • Develop content strategy to address identified gaps. • Review and communicate analytics and key success metrics on an ongoing basis to understand user behavior and help shape and manage content and training strategies. Functional Knowledge : • Bachelor Degree • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; Project Management is a plus • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro, intermediate to advanced experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe eLearning Suite, Articulate Studio & Storyline, experience with Adobe Creative Cloud a plus, experience in building a virtual team is a plus • Understanding of Virtual Classroom user experience, especially as it pertains to adult learning and remote virtual learning experience • Passion for creating great training with actionable knowledge of the digital landscape, including current industry and user trends, emerging technologies, and standards • Extensive experience building training content preferably within the financial services, insurance, or other highly regulated industry • Proven experience conceptualizing and producing print, digital and web based training assets • Must be a strong virtual training facilitator and be able to engage a sales team • History of demonstrating results via training efforts • Strong writing ability with a focus on eLearning instructional design • Familiarity and expertise with eLearning training platforms • Ability to scope, organize and execute multiple projects with interrelated goals • Must be comfortable with complicated technical and regulatory language • Must exhibit strong interpersonal communication (both oral and written), organization and planning skills • Ability to meet tight and frequent deadlines and multiple projects at once • Ability to adjust to changing workload and priorities • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment Leadership : • Requires ability to directly manage / lead a mix of quantitative and qualitative individuals • Experience leading cross-functional training strategy and development meetings • Key participant and valued resource at team meetings where creative influence and the ability to articulate and present conceptual ideas effectively is required • Highly responsible, team-oriented, collaborative approach to content development • Regularly interface with ZTOs and senior management to ensure that content strategy is in line with and supportive of company objectives Problem Solving : • Requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions • Ability to develop eLearning programs that integrate with and reinforce local training and development programs • Must have the ability to trouble shoot and solve unique and complex problems during live webinars • Able to navigate a highly-matrixed, complex organization while continuing to produce work on time, on message, and to high standard of quality • Create and communicate solutions for complex and often evolving Agent and organizational demands Decision Making / Nature of Impact : • Brings creativity, innovation and industry knowledge to the team and every assignment and is able to identify the best available solution • Ability to influence and make key decisions with internal business partners that benefit the Agents, General Offices and Corporate organization and its overall mission • Manage relationships with legal and compliance to ensure that materials are produced in line with requirements • Ensure work is brand consistent and work with Legal to ensure compliance • Independently conceptualize and provide creative solutions when needed Communication Requirements : • Ability to communicate to Agents and Partners in a way that clearly explains decisions, highlights benefits, and takes into account their specific requests and needs • Strong influence and negotiation skills required for interacting with management • Interpersonal skills to interact professionally with all people at all levels of the company at all times EOE M/F/D/V If you have difficulty using or interacting with any portions of this Web site due to incompatibility with an Assistive Technology, if you need the information in an alternative format, or if you have suggestions on how we can make this site more accessible, please contact us at: (212) 576-5811. * Based on revenue as reported by “Fortune 500, Ranked within Industries, Insurance: Life, Health (Mutual),” Fortune Magazine, June 15, 2015.
