Position: Financial Reporting Manager (Real Estate-Investments)

Duties: POSITION SUMMARY; To provide the company superior risk-adjusted investment performance by managing a portfolio of mortgage loan, real estate and tax credit investments to maximize net investment income and total return; Fundamental Components: Report to the Head of Real Estate Investments; Willingness to learn all aspects of real estate finance to support all investment activities of the REI Group; Knowledge or prior experience in work related areas involving real estate investments & financial reporting; Provide accounting, tax consulting, training and technical support to REI staff members; Real Estate Investment Portfolio Financial Management & Reporting: Prepare and distribute all required monthly, quarterly and annual GAAP, STAT & Tax financial planning, budgeting, forecasting & actual reporting for the REI Group investment portfolios which include mortgage loans, wholly-owned, joint venture equity and tax credit equity real estate investments; Foster and oversee the development, documentation and implementation of guidelines, control policies and procedures to be used to review, create and report investment information resulting from new and existing real estate investments to ensure accurate, complete and regulatory compliant financial information; Provide technical assistance and oversee the activities of all REI personnel related to the production, analysis and dissemination of GAAP, STAT and TAX basis financial information to ensure consistent, timely and accurate financial results of the REI Group used to support both management decision-making and communications to internal or external stakeholders; Assist Head of REI on asset allocation reporting, work with Investment Managers on loan fundings, capital investments for tax credit equity investments and similar functions; Oversee all aspects of the Record Retention Policy and File Net system; Oversee Patriot Act reporting REI; Review and establish guidelines & procedures to enhance current operating model; Portfolio Asset Mgmt: Assume day to day responsibility for the management of a group of mortgage loans and/or real estate equity investments; Maintain complete knowledge/understanding of each investment & provide accurate financial forecasting of portfolio to track yield, payoffs, prepayments and potential economic gains & losses; Gather appropriate property level and market level data to report strengths & weaknesses, assess current & future risks, recommend risk ratings, develop & maintain action plans for each investment in assigned portfolio. Complete quantitative research to prepare property valuations to support risk ratings & action plans for each investment annually; BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired: 8 years of significant/pertinent accounting/financial experience relating to real estate investments, including complete understanding of profit/loss statements, balance sheets, GAAP, STAT and tax accounting concepts, financial reporting, financial reconciliation for a real estate investment portfolio; Experience in financial forecasting and modeling required; Project management experience; EDUCATION; The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; FUNCTIONAL EXPERIENCES; Investments/Accounting/Operations/Reporting - forecasting, reporting/7-10 Years; Investments/Accounting/Operations/Reporting - GAAP accounting/7-10 Years; Investments/Accounting/Operations/Reporting - insurance statutory (STAT) accounting/7-10 Years; Real Estate/Lease Management & Strategy - financial/qualitative analysis/1-3 Years; Real Estate/Real Estate Operations Management (REOM)/1-3 Years; ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION; Aetna is about more than just doing a job.
