Position Overview : The Student Worker Program at Texas State Technical College provides part-time employment to undergraduate students who need earnings to help meet their costs of postsecondary education. The Student Worker Program at Texas State Technical College provides part-time employment to undergraduate students who need earnings to help meet their costs of postsecondary education. This position will provide individual or small group tutoring. Tutoring may include but not limited to test preparation, general computer skills and homework in Developmental Math and College Algebra. Tutor must establish and maintain effective communication skills with students, must be organized and keep up with scheduled appointments and must document and maintain tutoring records. Tutor must observe a MATH 1314 class for an hour and a half, every week, then apply the same learning strategies during the tutoring sessions. Essential Functions include: Familiar with basic computer skills navigate websites such as MyMathLab and/or Moodle save a file upload files email attachments Algebra skills needed include, but not limited to: Demonstrate and apply knowledge of properties of functions, including domain and range, operations, compositions and inverses. Recognize and apply polynomial, rational, radical, exponential and logarithmic functions and solve related equations. Apply graphing techniques. Evaluate all roots of higher degree polynomial and rational functions. Recognize, solve and apply systems of linear equations. Minimum Qualifications : Be registered with Selective Service, if applicable Completion of at least 24 college credit hours Must be currently enrolled at TSTC at a minimum of six credit hours throughout their employment Student must maintain good Scholastic Standing at all time while employed as a tutor Must have and maintain a 3.0 GPA Grade of A in College Algebra preferred Must be recommended by a College Algebra instructor Salary : $ 10 an hour Position is contingent upon meeting the requirements at the end of each semester Hiring Manager: Caminia Del Toro Apply Save Job Email Job to Friend Return to List
